Wendy
Fopeano is a jazz vocalist based in Denver, Colorado. Originally from
Kansas City, Missouri, Wendy started out as an instrumentalist, playing
electric and acoustic bass, trumpet, guitar, and piano, before choosing
voice as her main instrument. She sings jazz and is also very
interested in ethnic music, especially Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, and
Indian. She studied Indian classical vocal techniques and tabla in
Mumbai, India
during a residency in 1999 and has also studied Latin percussion. Wendy
has composed children's songs about nature, geometry, and Colorado
history to
help kids learn these subjects in fun ways. She is the host of Jazz and More on
Denver's jazz89 KUVO (89.3 FM) voted Major Market Jazz
Station of the year in 2005 and 2006. She is on Saturdays

Yanow writes the Fopeano's Raining
on the Roses CD makes "one wonder why she is not
nationally famous." Wendy's previous CD, called When There's Love,
is also available on CD Baby, and features an outstanding trio of Art
Lande on piano, Dwight Killian on bass, and Jill Fredericksen on drums.
