The workbook is composed of a series of lessons, each of which contains some introductory material, assigns a set of readings from the main text, and perhaps suggests some practice material as well. Unlike the main text itself, which allows you to browse randomly as you see fit, the workbook is designed to provide a specific path through the material. You need not follow this path at all, of course, but if you do, then the intent is that you follow it in the order it is presented.
Eventually, there will be several different workbooks available, corresponding to different courses of study such as Jazz Appreciation, Jazz History, Beginning Improvisation, Advanced Improvisation, and so forth. The program also provides you with the capability to customize your own workbook by modifying the HTML files provided.
