Information is only useful if you know how to take advantage of it. While I have made every effort throughout this program to show how the information I present can be used, you may still be wondering where to start. The Workbook can help you plot a course through the material, but jazz is not about sitting in front of a computer reading, or even trying out the various examples that are presented to you.
In this chapter, I discuss what you should be doing while not sitting in front of your computer with this program. This includes your practice time as well as any performances you might participate in. There are even a few things I would like to say about how you can apply your experiences with improvisation to activities that have nothing to do with music, and vice versa.
