The Monarch Ultra-Portable Easel
Here are some more pictures of the easel:
The
easel in use on location at Lair of the Bear (Jefferson County open space park) near Morrison,
Colorado.
Artist
/ Easel Designer Marc Sabatella ready to begin a painting. The easel is mounted
on a very lightweight and inexpensive tripod. Everything I need to bring with me
fits in a backpack
A closer view of the easel, set up for an 11"x14" painting.
I am left handed, so I like to put my brushes on the
left wing. I keep my sketchpad and other supplies I might need during the course
of the painting on the right. Notice the reflections in the built-in wooden
palette? It gets more glass-like with each use.

Here is the easel set up for a 5"x7" painting. Note I had to raise the panel
from where I had it when painting 11"x14".
You can also paint other size panels in this position.
Here is the easel set up for 16"x20". This time, I had to lower the panel. Again, you can
paint other size panels in this position if you like.
Here
is a bird's eye view of the easel. Note that while the easel is designed
primarily to use on a tripod, it also lays flat and works fine on a table.
A
closer view to give you a better idea of how it is constructed.
Here
is the easel all closed up, viewed from the top.
Here
is the closed easel from the bottom. Note the tripod mount toward the bottom
center.
Here
is a close-up view of the closed easel, from the side.
