Developing Texture

Because I happen to be especially with the texture of a painting, in terms of how the paint is applied, I spent another twenty minutes working on this. Basically, I am looking for areas where the color appears flat compared to other areas, and I go in with other related colors to make each area equally "chunky". For instance, see the warmer and lighter areas of the water, or the background row of trees, or the grass Of course, if you prefer a smoother look, you would do the opposite - find chunky areas and smooth them out.

I am also always on the lookout for things I have missed. For example, I noticed a log lying on the opposite bank and catching the light near the center of the painting, and added it. Also some more tree trunks catching the light in the background. And I am also constantly correcting colors as I go, usually by adding new color into the still wet area, but sometimes by scraping the old paint away and repainting.
