Final On Site Touches

Shortly after taking the photograph to show the previous stage, an artist I had just met a couple of nights before happened by while walking her dog (this is a popular park) and we chatted for twenty minutes or so. This was just as well, because I find it helpful to take a break from painting at this point, and then come back with fresh eyes to see what is bothering me.

As you can see, I realized the paint was too "chunky", and worked to smooth things out. I like to see individual splotches of pure color, but I do not necessarily want them to actually look like raw brushstrokes. Part of what I am doing is refining the shapes of these splotches, then. After twenty more minutes of working on the painting, it looked as you see it here, and I called it a day, anticipating that I would find a few other things to take care of once I got home.
