Developing Shapes

Although this picture may seen much more developed than the last, it was the result of only around twenty more minutes work. What I am doing here is breaking down the big shapes into smaller shapes, using the local color of the smaller shapes. Often, this means painting specific objects, such as a few of the more prominent trees in the background, but it also meant identifying shapes of color within the water. Unlike in previous stages, the paint I am adding here is likely to remain visible in the finished painting. I am mostly covering up the original dry brushed strokes, although some of the strokes of color I used in the previous stage to help define the big shapes also contained more of the local color found within those shapes and are left alone.
