The Outside Shore
Demonstration - Around The Bend
This demonstration follows an 18"x24"
plein air pastel painting from start to finish,
using the big-to-small approach.
The painting was started and mostly completed late on a mid-August
afternoon, on location at Anderson Park
near my home in Colorado. The park is one of several alongside Clear Creek where
it meanders through Wheat Ridge, and I have painted in this area often (see
Along Clear Creek,
Not Spring Yet,
Beaver Pond,
A Quiet Reading Spot, and
Late Spring Runoff At Prospect Park).
The scene I chose was along the north bank of Clear Creek, looking west as the
creek curves left around a bend. The picture here shows how the scene appeared
when I started the painting.
