Welcome to the rec.music.makers.jazz home page! The official description of this newsgroup is "discussion by and for musicians on the making of jazz". The newsgroup itself is not part of this (or any) Web site. What does exist on this site are some supporting documents and links for the use of rec.music.makers.jazz participants. If you are unfamiliar with the concept of newsgroups, you may wish to check out the new users' newsgroup, where several explanatory documents are posted.

Once you have accessed the newsgroup (by clicking on the link below, or through whatever means you normally use to access newsgroups), feel free to browse the existing discussions, to contribute to one of them, or to start a discussion of your own. All I ask is that the discussion be focused on the making of the music. For more general jazz discussion, such as talking about favorite CD's, please use the newsgroup rec.music.bluenote, which is devoted to "jazz, blues, and related forms of music" and which is open to all types of jazz discussion.
