Hugh Ragin / Marc Sabatella, CIMP

This CD was released in March of 1999. It is officially a co-led recording, although since Hugh's name is listed first, you'd be more likely to find it filed under "R" in the stores. The recording consists entirely of duos between Hugh on trumpet and Marc on piano. The music is often freely improvised, using graphic scores and simple notated melodic lines to guide us. There is one long and hypnotic ballad that is more conventional, and the solos on it are freely improvised as well. I think the music is uncommonly beautiful.
